Part Change
Usually there is nothing to worry about, but a change of part can be used to hide a watch's past, identity or could even signal inauthentic parts. Further, a part change can disrupt the watch's performance so it doesn't meet manufacturer's performance specifications / standards. During our inspection of any watch, we will do our best to notate any components that may be inauthentic. If there are any additions to the watch that are different from the original watch, such as different strap or bracelet or bezel or dial, they are duly noted on the official certification document.
Service History
We can not control what information, if any, will be reported to our service, particularly if work was performed by an unauthorized WatchFacts® service center or was performed prior to the watch being registered in our system. Therefore, during your review of the information contained in the report, we strongly suggest that you assess and verify the type of work that was performed. Please note, no information is considered a derogatory mark and should be evaluated consciously as part of your purchase decision.
Ownership History
We will not be able to track the number of owners of any watch prior to the official issuance of a watch certification unless it is a documented purchase directly from the manufacturer or an authorized retailer. If the watch you are looking to buy is not purchased directly from an authorized retailer, it will be considered pre-owned. Similarly, if the watch is new and purchased from an unauthorized retailer, it will also be considered pre-owned.
Theft
WatchFacts® through its various partnerships has access to over 50 billion records of stolen items from over 30,000 local and national law enforcement agencies, insurers and other reporting organizations.
